It is the purpose of the Discipleship Ministry of First Baptist Church of Palmetto to do just that - "bring each person to maturity." Through seminars and short-term studies, on and off campus, we at FBC seek to provide opportunities for individuals to grow in their relationship with Christ while they seek to disciple others.

Discipleship Classes
A key ingredient of Southern Baptist Heritage is the maturing of the believers in their faith. Discipleship goes hand-in-hand with the salvation experience to enhance and deepen the Christian’s walk and faith in Christ. Paul writes in Ephesians 4:12 & 13: “…to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the fullness of Christ." (NIV)
Through the Discipleship department of our church, and the Convention, over 300 courses are available for study especially for small group (10-15 people) settings. Our courses normally require a facilitator, DVD or VCR player, individual study books, and of course, a meeting place.
Throughout the year, you will find many varied opportunities for Christian growth involvement, such as, MasterLife, Foundations, Nehemiah and others. Our Women of Worth Ministries studies Beth Moore, Jennifer Rothschild and Tianne Moon, just to name of few.
Deciding My Church Membership
This prerequisite class for church membership, facilitated by Dr. Michael Parris and Rev. Joe Choate, provides an opportunity to get acquainted with our staff and what our Southern Baptist Church is all about.
