The North River Counseling Center seeks to provide quality mental health counseling from a Biblically sound perspective to the residents of Manatee County in a caring, confidential and ethical setting.

The North River Counseling Center (NRCC) provides professional counseling to aid in the healing of the whole person: spirit, soul and body. Established in 1990, NRCC is a Ministry of First Baptist Church of Palmetto. Our goal is to guide each client toward personal maturity by helping them view their circumstances from a spiritual perspective, rather than from a worldly or humanistic view. North River Counseling Center offers a full range of mental health services including psychotherapy, psychometric testing, individual and group counseling, stress reduction, family conflict issues and seminars on parenting.

Located in the offices of First Baptist Church of Palmetto, NRCC is conveniently reached from Tampa, Brandon, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. Please call (941) 722-7508 for more information or for an appointment.

Mental health counseling is the provision of professional counseling services, involving the application of principles of psychotherapy, human development, learning theory, group dynamics and the etiology of mental illness and dysfunctional behavior to individuals, couples, families and groups, for the purpose of treating psychopathology and promoting optimal health. The practice of mental health counseling includes, but is not limited to, diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, consultation to individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations and communities and clinical research in order to promote more effective pyschotherapeutic treatment modalities. Adopted by the Board of the National Academy of Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors in September 1985, and the Board of Directors of the American Mental Health Counselors Association in April 1986.
