Palmetto First Baptist exists to connect people into loving relationships with Jesus Christ and with others~

In 1999 FBC partnered with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (IMB) to become a Global Priority Church. Our involvement, when combined with the efforts of Southern Baptist Churches throughout the world, makes up the Global Priority Network. The purpose of this network is to actively and intentionally give priority to the promotion of missions giving, creating prayer partnerships, adopting people groups, calling out missionaries, sending volunteers and working with the IMB.

It is remarkable to realize that we are one of more than 40,000 churches who willingly provide support to the IMB because of our love and commitment to missions. However, much more can be done to strengthen that support and the potential we have as Southern Baptists to reach a lost world. That is why every Fall we seek to better inform and more directly involve our church body of our missions effort.

Some of the Missions supported by Palmetto First Baptist:

International Mission Board

The mission statement of the International Mission Board states, "leading Southern Baptists to be on mission with God to bring all peoples of the world to saving faith in Jesus Christ."

North American Mission Board

The North American Mission Board exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, start New Testament congregations, minister to persons in the name of Christ, and assist churches in the United States and Canada in effectively performing these functions.

Newars

We, the members of First Baptist Church of Palmetto, Florida on the 20th day of January, 2002 A.D. adopted The Newari People of Nepal and thereby assumed responsibility of partnering with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and with other agencies to establish a strong, indigenous church planting movement among the Newari People that is of sufficient size and strength to evangelize the rest of that people group on its own. This we do in dependence upon the power and provision of the Holy Spirit, all to the praise and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Florida Baptist Convention

The mission of the Florida Baptist Convention is to inspire and to equip - through word and deed – Florida Baptist churches and associations to accomplish the Great Commission. The Vision of the Florida Baptist Convention is to accomplish its mission by facilitating the discovery of needs and potential, provide customized resources, encourage the exchange of ideas for growth and effectiveness in mission and ministry tasks that are culturally relevant and linguistically sensitive which will result in evangelism/believer development, church starting, leadership development, strengthened existing churches and strengthened financial resources through multi-cultural development and inter-divisional cooperation.
