Amazon Mission Trips

Amazon River Mission Trips

Brazil:

Over the past several years, FBC Palmetto has been actively serving communities along the Amazon River in Brazil, witnessing significant spiritual growth and transformation.

Amazon 2025 Highlights:

  • This year’s trip continued our primary mission, combining both spiritual outreach and physical care.
  • The team visited multiple villages, engaging in prayer, Bible study, and spiritual conversations with local men and women.
  • Encouraging progress was seen as local leaders began leading Bible studies and guiding their communities in faith.
  • A dedicated medical team provided dental care, vision services (including distributing eyeglasses), wellness checks, and health education — meeting crucial physical needs and opening doors for deeper ministry.
  • Over the past seven years, many villages have gone from skeptical to welcoming, with house churches formed and baptisms taking place, thanks in large part to ongoing support from Pastor Jose Carlos.

        What’s Next? March 13-21, 2026

The team recognizes the ongoing need for discipleship and support and feels called to return in 2026— inviting more people to join in the mission.

Amazon Outreach mobilizes short-term mission teams to assist Brazilian churches in making disciples by sharing the love of Jesus in the Amazon River Basin. We us Jesus’ holistic approach of simultaneously meeting physical needs through medical, dental, eyeglasses , and providing clean, safe drinking water.

The team will serve through medical, dental, eyeglasses, VBS, women’s and men’s ministries, evangelism, and discipleship. We also utilize other gifts such as hair cutting, nail polishing, hair braiding, etc. Some teams raise the $6,000 needed to drill a water well. Yes! You are needed and there are multiple ways to help.

        Why We Go?

        • The people along the Amazon call themselves “The Forgotten People.”
        • These humble Ribeirinhos (river people) live in deep material and spiritual poverty.
        • Villages are often closed to local missionaries but are very open to our American teams with medical, dental, and water wells. Missionaries call us “The Crow Bar Ministry!”
        • The great majority of the population has no access to the Gospel.
        • They also do not have access to medical or dental care.
        • Most villages do not have access to fresh, clean drinking water. Many children die before the age of five due to water-related illnesses.
