“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2: 8-10

  1. Why doesn’t God require, or even allow you and I to participate in our own salvation through good works?
  1. What is the relationship between works and salvation described in verse ten?

We are not saved by our works. We do good works because of the salvation we have received freely. Make a list of two or three things you might do today to serve God and your neighbor in response to what Jesus has given you freely.

Pray for God to humble your heart. Pray that you would stop any striving to earn God’s love and rest in the love he has already shown you in Jesus.
