By Faith George
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him… The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way, though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand… The law of God is in his heart, his steps do not slip… Wait for the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to look on when the wicked are cut off… The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.” Psalm 37:3-7, 23-24, 31, 34, 39-40
- The recurring theme is to wait for and trust in the Lord. What are some situations in your life when you felt God had forgotten you?
- Why do you think it’s so difficult to trust God? Why does God want you to trust Him?
- How can trusting God, even when you feel forgotten, affect your relationship with Him?
Take this week to shift your perspective from feeling forgotten, to waiting with great expectations for what God is going to do in and through your life! The passage above describes how those who delight in God’s word and presence are those who He delivers and exalts. Delighting yourself in the Lord means to draw close to Him. As you get to know Him, your heart will reflect HIS desires and your actions will reflect HIS heart. You are given the desires of your heart when your heart is aligned and one with His. Spend time with Him this week, with the intention of simply getting to know Him more.
Ask God to help you change your attitude and outlook on your circumstances. Pray that He will use this season of waiting to teach you more about Him and His character. Be open and vulnerable to what He may reveal about your own heart and be pliable in His hands as He shapes and molds you into who He created you to be.
